Borescope Survey

Comprehensive Non-Invasive Building Surveys

Borescope surveys are an essential part of retrofit services, allowing for the identification of issues within wall cavities and voids, without the need to create large openings or remove sections of the outer structure.

Our borescope surveys provide a close visual examination of hard-to-reach areas without the need for disruptive work.

Borescope surveys can be key to establishing the current levels and condition of insulation, ensuring that any necessary improvements can be made efficiently and effectively.

cavity survey

A Borescope inspection provides the ability to conduct a thorough examination of cavities or voids within walls.

Drilling a small hole in the wall allowing the insertion of a small camera and taking detailed images and videos for analyses, as well as being able to take moisture readings.

The process is non-invasive and conducted with minimal damage to the property with small, easily repairable holes.

Borescope inspections are essential for various building survey applications, including:

  • Pre retrofit works for energy saving measures.
  • Cavity Wall Insulation: To determine the presence, condition, and type of insulation.
  • Water Ingress Investigation: Identifying potential internal or external water leaks.
  • Pipe and Leak Location: Finding concealed pipes and pinpointing leaks.
  • Wall Type Identification: Assessing whether a property has a solid wall, cavity wall, system-built wall, or timber frame.
  • Identifying failing cavity wall insulation for insurance purposes.
  • Identifying the presence of wet and dry rot.
  • Confirming the presence of hidden structures and water penetration.

Providing Detailed Wall Analysis, Borescope surveys are particularly valuable for identifying the type of wall behind external coverings such as external render.

This is crucial when there is uncertainty about whether a property has a solid wall, cavity wall, system-built wall, or timber frame.

Using various instruments we drill a small borehole into the outer leaf of the building and use a borescope inspection camera to examine the wall or cavity.

Borescope Surveys can capture internal and external images, providing evidence of existing cavity wall insulation or signs of decay and insulation failure. The borehole is then sealed with appropriate materials. Moisture readings can also be taken from inside the cavity or from insulation in voids to identify signs of failing insulation systems.

Following our borescope survey we provide a detailed report summarizing the findings and providing recommendations for any follow-on works that may be required.

In summary, borescope inspections provide a comprehensive, non-invasive method for examining wall cavities and voids, offering detailed insights without causing significant damage to the property.

This technique is essential for accurate building surveys and effective problem-solving, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of your property.
